California's Best Spring Break Destinations

San Diego beaches are another very popular Spring Break destination. Here there is plenty of sun, beaches and bars. The spring weather is very mild and perfect for walking around the downtown city streets, cruising along the boardwalk at Mission Beach, hitting the surf or having a few beers at one of the outdoor beach bars. The nightly club scene is hot in the Pacific Beach area where there are dozens of bars all along Grand and Garnett Avenues. It’s also great fun to have a few brews and enjoy a bonfire at one of the beaches. One of the more popular nighttime destinations is the Gaslamp District. The area has numerous trendy clubs and restaurants where many young adults hang out.

Mission Beach is also very popular for jogging, bicycling, rollerblading and much more. At the beach activities include surfing, body boarding, kayaking, swimming, beach volleyball (which is huge here) and much more. The Big Dipper at Belmont Park; which had reopened in 1990 after a restoration, is a very exciting beachfront rollercoaster ride. People who are very fond of beer will enjoy San Diego; as it is becoming a favorite hot spot for award-winning brew pubs like Stone Brewing, Alesmith, Port Brewing and Karl Strauss, just to name a few.

Springtime in San Diego means lower rates on almost everything, including SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Gaslamp restaurants, Old Town Mexican food and the local brew pubs. Hint: Be sure to get a copy of the San Diego Reader which is published weekly and can be found in many convenience stores. The Reader will have lots of information about local activities, best restaurants, local clubs and the music scene.
