Huntington Beach Pier - Surf City U.S.A.

This Orange County icon is located at Main Street and Pacific Coast Highway, in sunny Huntington Beach, California. An absolute perfect spot for a wide range of fun in the sun activities with a killer beach spot, the pier is one of the most frequented spots in the O.C.! Over 1,850 feet in length, it is the 2nd longest public piers on the West Coast of California, the longest being in Oceanside. The pier is constructed of reinforced concrete designed to withstand 31-foot waves or a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. Adjacent to the Huntington Beach Pier, the parking lots use Park-N-Pay system machines. The fees are $1.50 per hour and maxes out at $12 for the day.

I love watching the surfers here! The pier and the city host 50 days of surfing competition yearly, including US Open of Surfing in July, the NSSA West Coast Championships and the Hello Kitty Boardfest. The pier is frequented by frequented by sport fishermen, too. Fishing here is FREE and there are even poles and equipment available to rent, should you not have one. No license is required to fish on a pier in the Golden State. There are men, women and children casting lines all day long (The pier is "open" 5 a.m. to Midnight). Lights, restrooms and a fish cleaning station are located on the pier.

Tower Zero is the state-of-the-art lifeguard tower midway down the pier where the world\'s best trained lifeguards stand vigil over the beach to keep its sun lovers safe.  Here, you can always find the local water temperatures and wave conditions posted.

The 2-story, red-roofed Ruby’s Diner sits at the end of the pier, making it one of the coolest restaurants in Huntington Beach. The diner has great food at a decent price and with a window seat you have endless views into the middle of the stunning Pacific Ocean. I’ve even seen dolphins here!

A sun-worshipper’s paradise, one of the unique features of this beach is the 8.5 mile stretch (that runs to all 4 HB beaches) of paved boardwalk running parallel to the coast known as the Ocean Strand. This is perfect for fun beach activities such as jogging, skateboarding, dog-walking, biking and roller blading. Rentals of bikes and roller blades are available at many concessions along the way. This is also a HUGE spot for Windsurfing & Beach Volleyball.
