Oregon Beaches

The most interesting fact about Oregon is that in 1967 the legislature declared the entire 296 miles of coast existed for the use of the residents of Oregon. The warmest beaches are in southern Oregon in an area called the “Banana Belt”. A sunny temperate area, the temperatures range from the 70’s to the 40’s and precipitation is greatest in the winter months. The following are some of these lovely coastal spots.

Bandon is a friendly little town on the Oregon coast where the Coquille River meets the Pacific Ocean. Best Western Inn at Face Rock Resort is a popular place to stay with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal beaches. The beach is a place for birding, crabbing, fishing, surfing and so much more. Being on the west coast you are able to watch some awesome sunsets over the mighty Pacific Ocean.

Gold Beach is found where the Rogue River meets the Pacific Ocean and has three personalities. It is a seaside town, a river town and a mountain town. Interesting, huh? The beach is great for horseback riding, bicycling, clamming or crabbing, whale watching from beach or boat and is a popular area for windsurfing. The weather can be very changeable but there are days when sunbathing is a possibility. Jet boat rides up the Rogue River are very exciting and the scenery is breathtaking. Stay right on the beach at Gold Beach Inn or Ireland’s Rustic Lodge. Remember water reflection means sunscreen on the face even when wearing a hat.

Port Orford Harbor is the westernmost city in the continental United States and proud of it. A friendly little town with a large artist community and a working fishing port where you can watch them bring in their daily catch. Maybe you’ll even partake of some in one of the many local restaurants like Crazy Norwegians. If you want to catch your own contact Five Star Charters. The WildSpring Guest Habitat is an eco-friendly resort with five luxury cabins. Take some time to lounge in the large slate spa overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A short walk down the drive from The Compass Rose Bed and Breakfast and you can enjoy the beach with beautiful sunsets making a perfect ending to a day in the sun.
