Massachusetts Beaches

Massachusetts has 192 miles of coastline with many of the beaches on Cape Cod.

Breakwater Beach is quite popular with families with children because of its mild water temperature, great sand, tidal flats and gentle dunes. There aren’t any lifeguards here or facilities. A wonderful place to stay is Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club is an historic mansion which overlooks Cape Cod Bay with elegant villas, pool, 26-mile bike trail, a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course and more.

Monument Beach overlooks the Cape Cod Canal and the beach marina. It is a very popular place to come for windsurfers. It also features a wooden raft for swimmers to rest and sunbathe on. Lifeguards are present, and there is also a snack bar, volleyball net and bathhouse on the premises.

Race Point Beach is a surf fisherman’s dream but this is also popular with sun worshippers. Since this broad beach faces north the sun shines for a significant portion of the day. Umbrella and sunscreen would be wise. This beach is part of the Cape Cod National Seashore so it is primarily wild though restrooms, showers and lifeguards are provided. Want a luxurious place to stay nearby? The Crowne Pointe Historic Inn & Spa is a 140 year old sea captain’s estate fully restored with fine dining and a spa.
